Constructions at Bastogne, Belgium, will start in a few days’ time, and the project will start operation by mid-2021
The project marks a milestone in electricity storage development: it demonstrates that battery storage provides for a fully-fledged alternative to conventional flexibility sources, and can be developed on a large scale and source non-recourse debt while fully merchant exposed.
Rent-A-Port Green Energy and its partners now plan to replicate and scale up solutions developed for this project to contribute to a successful transition reconciling towards CO2 neutrality with security, stability and affordability of supply.
